10 Music Videos Worth Watching

Music Videos are an excellent way to promote a new song or artist. At times they're also a great visual companion piece to the audio itself, sometimes even enhancing the quality of the song. However, most music videos are dull, repetitive, and cliche. How many times have you seen a music video where there is just lyrics dancing across the screen? Or a video where you're simply watching the band or artist perform the song? I'm sure more times than you can count. This article aims to highlight the music videos that attempt to do something different, and succeed with entertaining results. Don't forget to leave a comment about the music videos you feel are worth watching!

Artist: This Town Needs Guns
Song: 26 Is Dancier Than 4

This music video uses stunning stop motion animation to compliment the craziness that is "26 Is Dancier Than 4." It's quite a spectacle to watch the white board as flowers grow, rockets fly away, and ships sink one another with cannon fire.

Artist: P.O.S.
Song: Drumroll

"In a world where the world ends at the end of your block" is the opening line to "Drumroll" and the video quite literally portrays those lyrics. Pure chaos is erupting around Stefan Alexander (P.O.S.) as he takes cover from the barrage of explosions behind a blown out car, right before those opening words are spoken. The whole video gives off a sense of urgency, matching the feeling in Alexander's voice.

Artist: Driver Friendly
Song: Messidona

"Messidona" opens with all seven band members occupying one couch, one that's far too small for seven people. Next they turn the TV on to tune into a Tom Hanks movie marathon and everyone in the band falls asleep. What follows is each individual band member acting out memorable scenes from a variety of Tom Hanks films. You'll have as much fun watching the video as the band clearly had making it, not to mention Tom Hanks saw the video himself and then proceeded to dedicate a tweet to the band.

Artist: The Bunny The Bear
Song: C'est Pas Si Loin

Say what you will about The Bunny The Bear and their music, but if there is one thing this band knows how to do well, it is making a music video. "C'est Pas Si Loin" is a thing of cinematic beauty to watch. The setting is a grandiose one, one made even more elegant with light sepia tones. The shots are all executed with obvious experience and confidence from director Eric Richter. The wide shot of The Bear as he walks off the stage is a notable one, with the lighting on the floor making the whole shot appear dreamlike. Above all else the video for C'est Pas Si Loin tells a story, one that compliments the song very well.

Artist: Scary Kids Scaring Kids
Song: My Darkest Hour

Do you ever wonder what bands do to entertain themselves while driving on tour? If so, then Scary Kids Scaring Kids video for "My Darkest Hour" should answer your question. The video shows the band rocking out to their own song on the radio, with some hilarious results.

Artist: Taking Back Sunday
Song: Faith (When I Let You Down)

OMGWTFTBSCAT! Taking Back Sunday's music video for "Faith (When I Let You Down)" tells the hilarious and heartwarming story of OMGWTFTBSCAT as the cat becomes an overnight internet sensation as a result of making a funny face. This causes the cat to ditch the band members of Taking Back Sunday to pursue greater things. Things go downhill for OMGWTFTBSCAT and the story that results is one that despite all of its ridiculousness still manages to be one that accompany the more serious themes of the song.

Artist: Funeral For A Friend
Song: History

The music video for "History" is one that packs an emotional punch just as powerful as the song itself. The video follows the band playing in the middle of a riot between coal miners and police officers, with flashbacks fleshing out one of the characters motivations for rioting. The events portrayed in the video involving the riots actually happened during the mid 1980s in the UK. The song and music video act as a powerful homage to the workers who fought for their jobs to support their families.

Artist: Affiance
Song: Call To The Warrior

Affiance's music video for "Call To The Warrior" parodies the cliche live band performance music videos by having the band play their own song on Rock Band. The humor is tongue in cheek and self aware, and makes Affiance seem like the kinds of dudes you would love to hang out with after a show. "Call To The Warrior" as a music video has some hilarious moments that you have to witness for yourself or else they'd be spoiled written here.

Artist: Fireworks
Song: Arrows

The music video for Firework's "Arrows" follows a hunters as he preys on a home of people made up of craft supplies. The video shows some gruesome kills with fabrics and paper ribbon replacing blood and guts and the effect is darkly comedic and entertaining.

Artist: Into It Over It
Song: Embracing Facts

The entire video is one long metaphor that is effective at conveying one theme of the song. It's incredible how simple the concept of the video is, yet it is still entrancing to watch.
